Photography has become my passion as I phase down my 35+ year career in real estate. I was drawn to the art as a young child, photographing the beautiful Meddybemps Lake and foggy coastal waters of Downeast Maine. At age ll, I learned what “it’s all about the light” meant as I made images of my elderly grandmother sitting in a bay window in her black dress. In 2014 I formally began to enroll in workshops led by nationally known professional artists in the field. By the fall of 2015 I started entering exhibits and my first competition. I was fortunate enough to have pictures juried into all the shows I entered. And also was fortunate to have had the two entries I submitted in competition be chosen for Honorable Mention in my first and so far only entry into competition. After receiving a number of requests for prints, I realized the need to create my own website which is viewable through our link to the site. Most of all, becoming part of a dynamic, very professional group of photographers has been the highlight of my year of 2015. The Image Salon was created in the Summer of 2015. We critique, share ideas to improve our work and collaborate on creating work for exhibits in our Triangle area of North Carolina. The synergy created by such a group of highly talented artists is beyond words. It has made me ponder my vision as an artist and what stirs me to produce images that inspire. As I continue to develop my photographic vision, I see the influences of my youth spent in magical and mystical places such old castles and awe-inspiring cathedrals in France or misty Maine harbors. I have fond memories of viewing the works of the Impressionist painters such as Monet and Cézanne in Paris where I lived at age 6. I am drawn to a sense of serenity and peace through my more ethereal, atmospheric images, undoubtedly influenced by those great artists. It is my hope to share that peace and serenity with my followers.
